Pelling, a beautiful town in the West district of Sikkim, is becoming the second biggest tourist destination in Sikkim after Gangtok. The main attraction of the place is the breath-taking sight of the Khangchendzonga and the neighbouring peaks. The famous Pemayangste monastery is less than a kilometre from here and is a major tourist hotspot. It also provides sites for mountain biking, rock climbing, village tours, meditations, educational studies and several other activities. The scenic town of Pelling is a perfect holiday destination for all nature lovers.
Pemayangtse Monastery is a beautiful monastery situated in Pelling in West Sikkim. It is positioned on a hilltop which overlooks the Rebdentse ruins and is built on the highest hill in the neighbouring areas. It stands out like a castle and is a sight to behold. The scenic beauty surrounding it is mesmerizing. About 2kms from Pelling, you can take a trip to the main monastery belonging to Ngingma sect which was constructed in the year 1705 AD. One of the most ancient monasteries in Sikkim, it was established by Gyalwa Lhatsun Namkha Jigme.
The capital city of the West Sikkim District, Geyzing is located at an altitude of 6,500 feet above the sea level with lofty and majestic mountains of the Himalayan range surrounding the city. The river Rangeet surges in the western part of the city. Keeping aside the scenic beauty of the nature that can be seen in this city; the many monasteries situated here make it a major tourist attraction.
One of the few unexplored villages in Sikkim, Darap has retained the pristine nature of its flora and fauna over the years. It is situated at an altitude of 1600 m and the temperature here ranges from -5 to 28 degrees.
This village is in the interiors of the Himalayan belt and only recently was it discovered and prepared for tourism. The local people known as Limboos have preserved their rich culture and traditions since ages and are extremely welcoming by nature. There are a lot of tourist-related activities that can be done in Darap village like trekking, traditional house visits, handicraft making, bird-watching and visiting the caves at Kanchenjunga National Park etc.
Yuksam is a beautiful place located in the Western region of Sikkim and the village is well known for its natural beauty. Situated near the Kanchenjunga National Park, the village of Yuksam is in the heart of mountains covered with lush green vegetation. The village provides access to the base camp of Mount Kanchenjunga. Yuksam is hence also an attractive tourist hotspot and the base camp for some of the most adventurous treks in Sikkim. There are several interesting tourist attractions that you can see here and the local cuisine of the place are a must try
